CAFS conducts “Workshop on Improving Digital Presence”
The College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS) conducted a “Workshop on Improving Digital Presence” on 17 January at the Landscape Horticulture Knowledge Center, Ornamental Crops Nursery, UPLB.
In his opening remarks, CAFS Dean Amado A. Angeles stated that any activity in the university will never be complete unless it is communicated effectively. Similarly, he said that any research output should be published and try to find reasons why funding agencies need to continuously fund these researches. Dean Angeles enjoined the participants to learn from the resource persons and take note of the errors that they see from others and put forward activities that are aligned to the aspirations of the university in terms of digital presence. With the length of time of experience that the participants have been managing the CAFS social media account and the website, Dean Angeles stressed that it is high time that they take the next level to make the website more interactive with the stakeholders.
Serving as resource person in the morning session was Mr. Abril A. Moldez of the UPLB Digital Innovation Center. He discussed the topic “Guidelines for Managing a WordPress Website”. An exercise on how to create a simple and engaging WordPress about something that interests the participants followed after the presentation of the topic. On the other hand, Ms. Kristine E. Araguas of the UPLB Office of Public Relations handled the afternoon session where she engaged the participants in revisiting the CAFS Social Media. Ms. Araguas also discussed Social Media Basics, Social Media Lessons and Management, Best Practices and Opportunities and Social Media Analytics. She emphasized that everything that is posted in social media should be anchored on the vision and mission of the College.
A total of 30 participants from the CAFS units attended the said workshop. (IMGesmundo)
