CAFS holds Scientific Career System Seminar for REPS

As part of Dean Enrico P. Supangco’s challenge to CAFS REPS to attain scientist positions, the Office of the Dean organized a Scientific Career System (SCS) Seminar last April 16 at the Animal Science Lecture Hall 1.

Dr. Evelyn Mae Tecson-Mendoza was the invited guest speaker. She is a conferred NAST Academician, UPLB Professor Emeritus, a well-loved science educator, and a renowned biochemist. Ma’am Mae, as she is fondly called by colleagues and students, also served as the Immediate Past Executive Secretary of the Scientific Career Council (SCC).

In her talk, Dr. Tecson-Mendoza gave light to the merit system implemented by the SCC. This includes the legal basis, rules, and regulations of the SCS. Hoping to have more scientists from UP[LB], she also discussed the requirements for the scientist positions where CAFS REPS are encouraged to apply. Ma’am Mae also entertained a number of queries raised by the participants after her presentation.

Dean Supangco and Dr. Ruben L. Villareal, the brains of the event, graced the seminar with their presence and participation. Dr. Jocelyn D. Labios, Associate Dean for Research and Extension was also present. (AKS Mojar)
